Dendias: We will not tolerate assault teams in Greece

Greek Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias gave an announcement for the arrests of executives and members of the Golden Dawn:

"The State of Law requires legitimacy for everyone. The State rose to the occasion and performed its democratic duty. I assure the Greek society that the investigation will not stop here. By order of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, we will continue in all directions until its completion.

There is no room for criminal organizations in Greece, which in the guise of a political party attempt to destroy the life of the country, undermine the institutions of the State, incite racial hatred, challenge human rights and disturb its social peace.

From the first moment I took office I declared in Parliament that assault teams will not be tolerated in Greece. However, the Golden Dawn attempted to test the endurance of Democracy. Today it received the answer from the State of Law.

My report to the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court had pointed to the Greek Justice that it could, for the first time, unify the many pending proceedings initiated against the Golden Dawn and completely address the neo-Nazi phenomenon as a criminal organization.

The Hellenic Justice and the Hellenic Police moved quickly and decisively. I express my deep gratitude.

Today is a historic day at a Greek and European level. It proves to all, especially to young people, that the State of Law is not naked and helpless towards the vulgar threat of irrational violence.
