The Greek government is attempting to freeze all discussion on the topic of auctions of a first home. Macedonia-Thrace Minister Theodoros Karaoglou is moving along the lines set by PM Antonis Samaras and said he did not accept relevant legislative amendments tabled in a bill of his ministry as "this is a very important issue and will be dealt with by the government in due time."

Amendments to continue the freezing of auctions have also been tabled by Andreas Loverdos and Yiannis Courakis while several New Democracy and PASOK MPs said they will not accept the lifting of the freeze.

In addition, the bill includes four ministerial amendments that regulate matters of other ministries. Specifically, amendments of the Finance Ministry regulate matters of arrears in pension funds, compensation issues due to criminal activity but also the issue of payment of staff that will be suspended. Moreover, a second setting by the ministry facilitates compensation for citizens damaged by criminal acts directed against government officials. This arrangement is mainly for shopkeepers and residents of Larissa who suffered significant damages from a bomb explosion.
