Gearing up for the implementation of suspension

Tough nights for most employees in ministries as from Wednesday midnight, the deadline that for the general secretaries of ministries to submit to the Administrative Reform Ministry the lists based on which 8,290 employees will be suspended, has ended.

These lists indicate the number of suspension per sector and category of staff in order to prepare the final list until Sept. 16.

The next step provides that the decrees abolishing the redundant positions should be signed until August 27, so that the evaluation of staff can be completed in the first 15 days of September.

There was a problem in the Shipping Ministry that did not send the list of 50 employees to be included on suspension status. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis considers that the ministry is understaffed and the last responsible for the expansion of the public sector adding that he is in negotiations with the Ministry of Administrative Reform to significantly reduce the number of employees who will enter the suspension status.

The finalization of the criteria and point system that will apply for the drafting of the point boards for employees is essential for the implementation of the second wave of suspension, in order to include those who earn the lowest marks.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis decree is expected to be announced today as it was being changed until the last minute so the final text might reflect a sense of meritocracy and transparency.
