Viviane Reding: Greek citizens are right not to trust the Troika
“Troika’s time is over” and Europe must learn to solve its problems on its own, European Commission Vice President Viviane Reding said in an interview on Kathimerini Sunday issue.
Greek citizens “are right not to trust the Troika as radical decisions such as the layoff of tens of thousands of civil servants cannot be taken behind closed doors."
She added however, that Greece “must continue its reforms” and acknowledged that in the midst of a crisis like this one it is “easy to fall into the trap of populism,” but warned that “cheap populism and nationalism will not solve the Greek problem” nor pose “a response to our common challenges.”
