U.S. finmin in Athens following Schaeuble’s visit
Visit of high importance for the Greek economy and the country's image - He will meet with Samaras and Stournaras
American Finance Minister Jack Lu will pay an official visit to Athens Sunday and will meet with Greek premier Antonis Samaras and Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras.
The two sides will discuss the implementation of structural reforms and EU policies to support economic growth, as stated in the official announcement by the U.S. Treasury.
The visit is particularly significant, as it is announced just one day before the visit of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and nearly two weeks before Samaras’ meeting with Barack Obama in Washington on August 8.
The U.S. Minister is due to arrive in Athens at the end of the meeting of finance ministers and central bankers of G20, which will be held in Moscow during the following weekend.
