The Azeri state gas company, Socar, announced an initial agreement to acquire DESFA, taking control of the 66% of the Greek gas company.

According to Socar president, Rovnag Abdullayev, the decision to acquire DESFA is fully in line with the current high level of relations between Greece and Azerbaijan, as well as among the top energy companies in both countries.
«Socar has extensive experience in gas pipeline systems in the Caspian region and expects to work in Greece, at the first project of its kind in the European Union,» Abdullayev said.
