Venizelos convenes PASOK PG

PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos is looking for the approval of the Parliamentary Group of his party, in order to proceed to the final agreement with PM Antonis Samaras later today, at another meeting of political leaders with ERT as its main focus.

Venizelos’ partners appreciate the retreats who they believe were made by Samaras at the meeting on Wednesday as positive, but stress that there was no final agreement. "We expect the Prime Minister to take other steps towards our positions," they point out, refusing to give details about the course of negotiations.

As it seems, PASOK does not accept extreme positions like the one providing for the opening of the new ERT with contracted employees. However, the party seems to be accepting that ERT in its present form has finished, so that Samaras’ image does not get crumpled and supports that none of the employees that were in ERT before its closing should be dismissed. PASOK also believes that if there is an attempt to select some workers, about 700-800 as Samaras wants, this will not enable the reopening of the public broadcaster.
