Trying to overcome the crisis caused by the closure of ERT

The new body that will replace ERT will soon be ready, according to Yannis Stournaras who said that action is taken to protect the property of public broadcasting to provide compensation for the personnel that will be laid off.

In detail the finmin said: "We have to protect the property of ERT. Its assets are of the Greek people. The decision is not enjoyable. The establishment of the new entity, which will be done immediately is necessary to streamline costs in a new body of television, radio and internet."

He added “those with experience in public administration know that changes come only through clashes. We cannot have changes while things are still in progress.”

He also said "a bill has already been filed in parliament for the establishment of a new body. The Finance Ministry has been set as the natural successor of ERT. We have already proceeded to the recommendation of the management organ and we will proceed to reimburse the staff when we have all the information. We are creating a modern and transparent body of sound administration."

Maximos Mansion is reportedly working on a plan to dismiss the "black" screens of ERT and for public television to operate until NERIT will go live.

According to information, the plan for an immediate restart of ERT provides for the opening of the new state channel as soon as possible, probably within the next month and a half and will include many people of the old ERT who have the right to request reinstatement.
