ERT and new property tax in the negotiations

The mystery of the new real estate tax that millions of owners will pay in 2014, will probably be solved today by troika, in a meeting with the Greek Minister of Finance.

Two topics will mainly occupy the focus of the meeting:

-       the developments in ERT and the new systems implemented by the Greek government in the public sector for mass layoffs and new hires. Members of the Finance Ministry are annoyed because, as they said, the government has followed this solution as there was no time to lay off 2,000 inadequate and perjurer employees from the public sector until the end of June, which is a prerequisite for the tranche of the month

-       bargain for their real estate taxes. The relevant bipartisan committee has not received any proposals from the Finance Ministry. In contrast, troika has been updated since Monday, and may respond today regarding the scenarios it favors

According to information, the Finance Ministry and troika are also processing solutions without a tax-free limit, under the rationale that "everybody must pay even a little", on the single property tax to be imposed in 2014.

The two sides will also discuss once again the possibility of reducing VAT in catering in the second half of 2013. Yesterday evening troika approved the new settlement plan for loans, presented by the Ministry of Development.

Talks with the troika heads will stop tomorrow because Yannis Stournaras departs for the Eurogroup meeting, and will continue after his return.
