According to the April figures released today Friday by Eurostat, the Eurozone unemployed exceed 19,300,000 people. Unemployment in the 17 Member-States reached 12.2% in April against a 12.1% in March
According to the April figures released today Friday by Eurostat, the Eurozone unemployed exceed 19,300,000 people. Unemployment in the 17 Member-States reached 12.2% in April against a 12.1% in March.
According to the European Statistical Office, the number of unemployed increased by 1.64 million in the past 12 months, while 3,624,000 are unemployed young people under 25, reaching 24.4%.
Within EU-27 the unemployed reach 26,588,000 people of which 5,627,000 are young people under the age of 25.
In March the unemployed under 25 years old in the 27 countries of the European Union stood at 5,618,000 while in the 17 Eurozone countries, the unemployed young people were estimated at 3,613,000.
Atop the list of unemployed youth up to 25 years we find Greece with 62.5% out of the labor market, Spain at 56.4%, Italy 40.85%, and Portugal with 42.5%.
The highest rates are recorded in Greece (27% based on February data), Spain and Portugal while the lowest are found in Austria, Germany and Luxembourg,
Compared to 2012, unemployment in 2013 has grown to 18 Member-States and has fallen in 9.
