German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble has praised Greece, Portugal and Spain for the "significant progress" in the field of economic reforms and the resolution of problems related to deficits and debts.

Speaking at an event of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Schäuble added that member-states of the European Union should not have the illusion that they can pass on responsibility for the problems faced by their own banks in the European rescue mechanism.
The new, positive statements by Schäuble come a day after the revelation of his requests and plans for joint action so that countries in crisis will be able to get bilateral support as well on development issues through the German State investment bank KfW.
