Blackout in transport and in the streets of Athens
No electric rail and tram in Athens today as their workers’ unions, along with those of Tram Drivers of Attica and STASY workers, decided to take part in the protests and strikes of the Labour Centres of Athens and Piraeus.

There won’t be any Metro service either and workers in buses and trolleys have also announced a 24-hour strike, leaving Athens virtually without any public transport.

It seems that trade unionists and workers in public transport saw a provocation in the government's decision to proceed with the conscription of Metro strikers in order to end the strike, responding with consecutive 24-hour strikes that will last until next Tuesday, January 29.
