The update by the Finance minister at the meeting of the three political leaders who support the government on the results of the Eurogroup meeting lasted approximately one hour. Upon exiting Maximos Mansion, Stournaras merely said "nothing is easy, but we keep on trying."
The meeting of political leaders, where they will evaluate the eurogroup decisions, started at 10 am. It is the first act of the prime minister after the decision of the Eurogroup, and the topics of discussion include the positive decisions and the difficulties arising from the result of the Summit.
Samaras wants the commitment of both his political partners to the strategy he will follow from now on. One problem is his intention to make the government’s operation more authoritarian, i.e. implement the systematic bypassing of parliament concerning legislative acts, which will meet the objections of DIMAR.
However, having rejected the possibility of elections, Samaras wants a more decisive involvement of both his partners in government activity. In this context, the reshuffle plan remains open, as does the replacement of reluctant ministers with others, more determined ones who will not hesitate in the face of the political cost.
At 1 pm there will be a cabinet meeting in parliament with the prime minister setting his goals and asking the ministers for acceleration of the government’s work and intensification of changes and reforms.
At 11:30 this morning the prime minister met with the German Foreign minister Emily Haber at Maximos Mansion.
