Papoulias: We will overcome this crisis, in the past we went through bigger ones

During the meeting with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolić, President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias expressed his conviction that Greece will overcome its economic crisis as in the past it went through bigger ones.

"Greece is going through a deep economic crisis, but we hope that we will overcome it because in the past we went through bigger ones. So, I hope that we will come out of this crisis stronger, to relieve the Greek people who have suffered too much," Papoulias said.

Nikolić said that he follows the difficulties faced by Greece, adding that his country is in a long-running economic crisis so they know how it feels to deal with such a situation.

"The Greek people are capable, they have learned to make sacrifices, and Greece will come out og this situation," Nikolic said.

The two men mentioned the "historical relations" between Greece and Serbia which, as Papoulias stated, are not affected by changes either in persons or in regimes.
