Steel workers suspend their strike
After the conclusion of their meeting on Saturday, the steel workers of the Hellenic Halyvourgia decided to suspend their strike.
After 272 days on strike, the steel workers decided to get back to work on Monday as long as riot police personnel moves away from the factory.
Last Friday the union of the factory’s employees that met Labour minister Ioannis Vroutsis presented him with their demands that police leave the positions outside their workplace and that all fired personnel return to their posts.
Nevertheless, the minister told them late on Friday night that the owners would not agree to rehire the 40 fired employees. As a result, the strikers agreed to back off, let the factory open again and after that re-evaluate the situation.
