"We have a costed plan for investments and jobs"
Participating in Nikos Hatzinikolaou's online show e-nikos today, ND president Antonis Samaras answered questions from citizens....
Replying about the loan agreement, he said: "I did not sign the continuation of the memorandum, but its change. I had to, otherwise we would already be in the drachma. Europe accepted the changes I suggested. I was the architect of the anti-memorandum. "
When asked why people should vote for him, Samaras said: "We have a comprehensive and costed plan. Our plan will give people jobs, the stability of the euro for development and relief of debts, and will also erase many extreme injustices. We are at the most critical point, with many things at stake, jobs or taxes, euro or drachma, successful renegotiation or capitulation."
When asked what his red lines are, he replied: "Whatever we have set out to change we have found its equivalent. I am talking about the rehabilitation of low pensioners and special allowances. But there are other issues. Someone who has a loan cannot pay an installment of over 30% of their monthly income. Also there should be an extension of unemployment benefits for up to 2 years. This can be done by EC rather than national resources. I will do everything I can to bring investments to the country, it is the only way to reduce unemployment. There is no magic button for these things. I will give the battle as I did when I stood on my own against Merkel. I already talked to the Russians and Chinese about investing in our country," Samaras responded to another question regarding unemployment.
He referred to the agreement with Siemens, saying that the criminal aspect of the case, as well as the civil dimension of Siemens’ relationship with OTE, are not closed.
Samaras reiterated that he will convene an inquiry committee on how we arrived at the memorandum.
To a question on tackling corruption, he responded that "ND's pillar for the day after the elections will be justice and that's why I placed the president of the Association of Judges and Prosecutors Charalambos Athanasiou as the head of the State ballot."
Asked whether ND bases its tactics on terrorizing the citizens through the dilemma euro or drachma, as well as about the ad with the children, Samaras said that "the children show that the king is naked. The drachma club is annoyed by this ad. It is an amazing ad, and there have been similar ones in the past."
Regarding euro or chaos, he said that "the situation could get worse if we leave the euro. Unemployment will increase by 20%, personal assets will deteriorate and there will be problems with imports. And all this at a time when Europe is changing and everyone is talking about the need for development."
