Memorandum or you will experience absolute horror
“No country in Europe will agree to finance 130 billion to Greece if you do not meet your commitments on what has been agreed”…

In this clear way the President of the European Parliament Martin Schultz confounded expectations and put things in place in relation to the Memorandum, following Schauble’s line, as far as hopes on the agreement are concerned.

The social democrat politician repeated what he said this morning to Karolos Papoulias: that we talk a lot about Greece and not enough about Greeks. Thus, he showed solidarity towards the Greeks.

However, he prepared us for what is to follow: “I cannot tell you that everything will change by tomorrow. I am sorry, but I cannot tell you that. If I did, I would be lying. The first hard truth is that reform is inevitable. A harsh and painful road. The fruits of reform will not be felt for years. The debt is not sustainable. The Greek economy is not competitive. Harsh truths which apply whether Greece is in the Eurozone or not”.

“I understand the anger of the people who carry a great burden; the message of my presence here is that we want to support the people”.

“What worse could happen, many wonder. If you give up now, the next installment will not be given, salaries and pensions will not be paid. Schools will close”, he underlined, stating that those who do not accept the Memorandum have false hope.

Those who argue that Greece should not honor its agreements should understand that the result wll be Greece’s exit from the Eurozone. That is the beginning of the horror; those hurt already will be harmed more.

“We are not the Troika”.

In his speech in the Megaro Mousikis, he tried to differentiate the EU from the Troika.

“It is not possible for the Greeks to see the Troika as the EU”; as he said he hopes the Greek people will continue down the European path.

He also expressed his concern about the lack of government in the country and assured his audience that the EU wants to keep Greece as a member of the Eurozone for the good of both.

Moreover, the German politician attacked those who do not pay their taxes and move their money abroad.

“A true patriot would not. I urge the rich to give the country what the country gave them”.

Finally, Mr. Schultz underlined that EU parliamentarians are turning their hopes towards a reform policy for Greece and the Greeks.

“Let us help you” was a typical line by the EU Parliament President.
