Hooligans embarass Greece once more

After all, in this country, small joys do not last long and something happens which forces us to return to our misery. Only a few days after the huge success of Greece in Europe, through Olympiakos’ triumph over CSKA in the Euroleague final, brainless hooligans came to discredit something that should have been a celebration.

At Moschato, these idiots threw stones at the Panathinaikos coach, which was headed for the Peace and Friendship stadium for the first final of the A1 Basketball League between the two “eternal adversaries”.

The result was broken windows, injured basketball players such as Perperoglou and Smith, their being taken to hospital and the halting of the team’s bus.

A culmination of all these incredible events for a civilized country? The postponement of the first final, as confirmed by talking to sport-fm, by the president of ESAKE, Vassilis Economides.

All this when yesterday the coaches of both teams, Dusan Ivkovic and Zeljko Obradovic, and leaders Vassilis Spanoulis and Dimitris Diamantidis, gave a joint press conference in an atmosphere which promoted sports culture.

The hooligans had other plans though...
