SOS – No government yet...
Default, drachma, reserved deposit, necessary loan will either become the words-terms which will either lead the political world of Greece to form a government or become the main subject of the next election battle.
UPD:
Liquidity is not safeguarded and thus at any moment banks could dry up. Elaborations still go on and this point is crucial.
The last meeting Papoulias will have tonight is for 22:30 local with the DIMAR head, Fotis Kouvelis, while at the moment he is at his office with Golden Dawn General Secretary Nikos Michaloliakos. Before this, Papoulias met with KKE leader Aleka Papariga and Independent Greeks (IG) head Panos Kammenos.
Venizelos on NET
Speaking to the parliamentary candidates, Venizelos showed some optimism but attacked SYRIZA, believing they are responsible for the unpleasant developments. In particular, he noted that whoever drags the country to elections will find PASOK opposite them. “If they want new polls we will play based on the optimum conditions”.
He, too, said PASOK is in agreement with ND and DIMAR but "when in good faith I suggested to SYRIZA the formation of a government of the Left, they refused to take the initiative”.
Moreover, Venizelos stressed that each day that goes by - without a result - is a mistake.
“Reconstruction of the centre-left front”
Additionally, he said to his own people that the party must be re-organized without compromise, taboos or unnecessary loads.
He called upon the young people of the party to come forward and support this new step of PASOK, pinpointing the need to make it a party of the people, a party that will voice the European social democracy and development, and will be able to communicate with other powers on equal terms.
After the conclusion of the meeting Papoulias had with the three leaders, polls look closer than ever.
Fotis Kouvelis’ party accused Tsipras of “political misery and lack of integrity” after the statements the latter made about a government with ND, PASOK and DIMAR.
According to the party’s announcement, “…Until yesterday, Tsipras was asking us to stick to our known position and not succumb to forming a government without SYRIZA. Today, at the conclusion of the meeting with Papoulias, Samaras and Venizelos, the party leader said we had a deal to support a Memorandum government together with PASOK and ND, leaving SYRIZA out. This is shameful. The obvious inability to explain his stance should not allow him to slander and lie. This is political immorality”.
Samaras blamed Tsipras for the dead-end, saying: “I made efforts to find a solution. I do not understand what SYRIZA want to achieve. They refuse to participate in the scheme or provide a vote of tolerance”.
Sources say the two had a hot debate during the meeting and Samaras accused Tsipras of not comprehending how critical the situation is. Tsipras answered that the former drove the country to the polls but has not realized yet what the people said, especially regarding the Memorandum.
Samaras left unanswered the question concerning possible upcoming elections.
