What Samaras will do to form a government

Skies are heavy over Syggrou Av. ND headquarters because of the election outcome, which exceeded even the darkest expectations. Today, embarrassment and questions for the days lying ahead are the main colours of the painting.

The party’s officials have begun discussing who is responsible for that, while Samaras himself invited all interested parties accepting the European course of Greece to work with him but, under two conditions: to remain in the Eurozone and to restructure the memorandum in order to have development and soothe the reeling society.

According to the present political map, the only side which could accept the invitation is PASOK. However, unfortunately the total number of seats allocated to PASOK MPs are not enough. As for the rest of the parties, KKE, SYRIZA and the Independent Greeks are excluded, with the Golden Dawn choice being out of the question. Theoretically, the only party that could agree to cooperate with ND is Fotis Kouvelis' Democratic Left.

After the President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias gives the exploratory mandate to ND, the latter has decided to use all allowed time and space, and the main line they want to convey is that ND will not be responsible for any lack of governance or the election runoff.

A possible government of national unity should say yes to memorandum amendments, which would be a deep financial breath for the asphyxiated Greek market and public sector.

If such a coalition is not formed, then another election round is unavoidable. The country will go to the new polls in deep crisis and under conditions of instability and generated uncertainty. Many are accusing Samaras’ choices regarding his officials and the model of governance he has promoted for this failure. Nevertheless, the officials themselves are touching upon the matter, characteristically blaming the “Greek society for not having understood their ND narration”.
