Possibility of a cabinet reshuffle

Government sources are talking about the possibility of a reshuffle of Papademos’ government against the backdrop of internal party elections in PASOK.

ND spokesman Yannis Michelakis denied the scenario about placing ND MP Kostis Hatzidakis in the post of  Development minister.

Recently released information in journalistic circles reported that there is a possibility of moving current Development minister Michalis Chryssochoidis to the ministry of Citizen Protection to fill the gap created after Christos Papoutsis' resignation eight days ago.

Sources close to the minister of Development confirm to prototema.gr that the issue has been proposed during internal government discussions, but say that the prime minister will make the final decision.

"I do not know anything, they have not discussed anything with me," Hatzidakis told protothema.gr when asked to confirm if he is to be appointed minister of Development.

Later this afternoon there will be a meeting between the deputy prime minister and Finance minister Evangelos Venizelos, who will also claim the presidency of PASOK, and the PM, while it is obvious that if Chryssochoidis is transferred, a minister will have to be placed in the Development ministry as well.
