Great slaughter of supplementary pensions to make the partners relent

Salaries and pensions are being placed on the "Procrustean bed" to close the PSI and the new loan agreement with the European partners. According to information, they decided that of the 625 million euros that have been dividing our country and its lenders, the amount of 300 million will be saved "by slaughtering supplementary pensions," said a finance ministry official. The amount of the cuts will reach and perhaps exceed 20%, without clarifying whether it will apply to pensions below 300 or 200 euros per month.

According to the same information, the remaining 325 million will be saved through the acceleration by six months of the cuts in special payrolls, by means of new cuts to higher and technical education institutions (AEI and TEI) but also through the imposition of a special excise fee on diesel for farmers.

The measures will be discussed in detail and announced in the upcoming cabinet meeing. However, as Finance minister Evangelos Venizelos said after the Eurogroup teleconference on Wednesday evening, "those who accuse us because we make difficult decisions, by cutting wages, pensions and incomes and reducing living standards, do not realize that their blind and myopic reaction endangers incomes, pensions, wages and living standards, which can all suddenly collapse."
