Papademos meeting with political leaders

Saturday afternoon will see PM Lucas Papademos meeting with the political leaders who support the government.

The aim is to obtain the commitment of political leaders on the new loan agreement, and especially those elements set as prerequisites for our lenders in order to complete the new “rescue” of the country.

As is known, the Troika clarified that they want a PSI, a new loan and new measures in one “package”. This package must bear the signatures of ALL political leaders supporting the Papademos government.

The PM will try to elicit the commitment of leaders in order to convey it to the summit on Monday.

These processes will continue into Sunday morning, when he has arranged a cabinet meeting.

Some time ago, the meeting between MoF Evangelos Venizelos and the Troik, was completed. The aim of the Greek government is to close the deal for the PSI “in principle” until Sunday afternoon, according to a Greek official’s statement to Reuters.

According to government officials, the plan is to have it ready by the beginning of February.

Finally, it was announced that Antonis Samaras, the leader of the New Democracy party, will be received on Tuesday, by President Karolos Papoulias.
