“A forced exchange of bonds will be based on Greek law”

Any discussion on whether or not the new loan agreement is governed by Greek or British Law was characterized as “dangerous” by Finance Minister, Evangelos Venizelos, while he made it clear that “the enforcement of the bond exchange is governed by the law of our country, ie in our case, Greece. It is fundamentally different”.

Specifically, during the debate on the regulation of the multiple law bill the Minister told Parliament that “We are in a very delicate point of consultation and negotiation on the new support program and the PSI”, and added that “Crucial and parallel processes are being carried out, which require composure, professionalism and national consistency”.

Furthermore, he requested that there be no discussions on the subject before negotiations are complete, but he promised that he will be filling in the House on all matters and noted that both ND President Antonis Samaras and LAOS president George Karatzaferis have full and detailed information on any and all aspects of the consultation.
