New wave of foul weather

Low temperatures will persist and especially during the morning and late evening hours, in mountainous regions in the central and northern parts of the country, the weather will be “frightful”. Winds are expected to cause disruptions to boat routes and in places will reach 7 on the Beaufort scale.

Meanwhile, on road arteries across country, traffic police have taken extra measures to handle possible traffic problems, starting now and until January 6, Epiphany day.

Measures include alcohol testing to avoid unpleasant and dangerous street violations that can cause serious road accidents.

Beware of the following:

- Possible thunderbolts. During that time, avoid moving about or staying outside in the countryside.
- Activities near the seaside during dangerous or intense weather phenomena.
- Crossing streams and torrents either on foot or by car.
- Make sure you listen to the latest on the weather news.

- Follow authorities’ directions religiously.
