Chrysohoidis is opening the candidates’ dance

n an interview on Real FM radio, Chrysohoidis said: "I am eligible for candidacy at some point, if any such procedures commence in PASOK. I am a politician, a member of our party, and I have served for quite a while. I think I have been useful for politics and my country so far." 

The infrastructure minister expressed self criticism as well and gave an outline of his policy framework: "The condition is that we get a strong message that the PASOK of recent years is not what those who founded it once dreamt of, or that which three out of four Greeks supported throughout its journey. Three out of four Greeks voted for PASOK at least once and every time these people invested expectations and hopes on us. Unfortunately we were unable to overcome the negative side of our status and effectively serve the country and the people at critical times. This PASOK must change radically." 

These statements essentially initiate the circle of candidates for the leadership of PASOK. As everything points out, developments within the party will be rapid in the coming period, especially after the release of the sixth tranche and the adoption of the budget. 

So far, George Papandreou has been keeping his cards close to his chest, and today continues his contacts with members of the party Pangalos, Kaklamanis and Kastanidis. 

His press agency released a statement yesterday in response to stories that said the current president was about to leave. Among other things it read: 

"The government's success, the steady progress of the country, the steady progress of PASOK, are the priority for the president of PASOK, George Papandreou. Anything else, such as reports or comments of any sort of media are simply reflections of the attitudes, intentions and plans of others".
