Papandreou arrived at the Presidential Mansion at 12pm today, where he
was welcomed by the President of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias.
“My aim is to do everything I can to form a coalition government and I see there is a climate of overall consent”, he stressed.
He repeated that he is not bonded to his chair, while Papoulias said that the only way forward is that of conciliation.
The meeting lasted about 45 minutes. Upon exiting, the PM said that the aim is the forming of a broad coalition government that will implement the agreement of October 26. And he stressed that voting on the agreement is a prerequisite for the country’s stay in the Eurozone.
What remains to be clarified is:
- the timetable of the meetings with political leaders

What remains to be clarified is:
- the timetable of the meetings with political leaders
- which parties, MPs or personalities will be included in the new formation
- who will be the new prime minister
- when and how the leadership change in the government will take place
- whether Papandreou will keep the presidential post in PASOK
- whether he will take the governing party to a conference
And all this is taking place while there is a Eurogroup meeting this Monday, which will reveal our partners’ reaction to the political developments in Greece, those that hold the keys to the vaults and not to the newspapers.
