"Sacred duty to stick to the euro"

Andreas Loverdos described the country's European course and its remaining in the Eurozone as a "national and strategic goal" and clarified that "the euro cannot be subject to a political game", thus suggesting that the referendum will shake the country’s stay in the Eurozone.

However, addressing PASOK MPs in particular, the health minister called for "a vote of confidence" and stressed that any problems that have arisen over the last few days "should be dealt with tomorrow. We have an obligation to fight and will do so."

He clarified that the decision of October 26 is a "good solution and an essential tool" that should "be applied and we will strive to implement it" and noted that the gaps and ambiguities in the agreement will be identified in due course.

He said that "we have a sacred duty towards the sweat and toil of the Greek people" to continue the country's European course, stressed that "nobody has the right to terminate it" and described the EU as a "political home" of Greece, which has always sought to "solve our problems."

Finally, addressing the opposition MPs, Loverdos noted that they must avoid any "partisanship of the past" so as "to provide security to citizens since we cannot offer them prosperity," and developed all the major reform changes that have been made in the health sector lately and have reduced its expenditures.
