The three to Giorgos: "Stop playing with the Euro and the country"

“You know not what you do. There is no question of a referendum, you did not notify the Europeans on your decisions”, Education Minister Anna Diamantopoulou stated with annoyance during the cabinet meeting.

Associates of the Minister of Finance indicate that the PM’s office had not notified Berlin, Paris and the Troika on Mr. George Papandreou’s intention to hold a referendum on the new loan before a formal announcement was made by the Prime Minister.

Minister of Interior Mr. Harris Kastanidis reacted to Mrs. Diamantopoulou’s statement.

“I don’t understand, Harris, are you mocking me?”, the Minister of Education interrupted him, and went on to say that there is no determined date for the referendum and neither has its subject been finalized.

For us there is no referendum, noted Ms. Diamantopoulou.

The stance of the Health Minister was sharp and direct: “No one has the political right to pose such a question which jeopardizes the sweat and toil of the Greeks in the past 50 years”, stated Andreas Loverdos, and continued by saying “the EU is a national strategy and not a subject for political games”.

“The question 'Euro or Drachma' is not taboo in Europe”, stated the PM during the cabinet meeting, underlining that there is ongoing talk in the EU of a Europe of two levels, with Greece and the other “PIGS” (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain) at the bottom rungs of the ladder.

“We made Antonis Samaras a guarantor of the European course and we became factors of destabilization”, stated Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Communications Mr. John Ragousis.

In order to describe the impasse, Mr. Ragousis conveyed what a PASOK voter told him in the street. “If I vote no, I will be destroyed because we will leave the euro. If I vote yes, I will be destroyed because of the constant new taxes. You have killed us financially. So I will not vote and you can just leave me alone”, she reportedly said, according to the Minister.
