Queues of dozens of cars formed in the morning at petrol stations as drivers fear shortages because of the workers' strike at the refineries, which began this morning. Already, many gas stations have run out of petrol, while others are carrying only the expensive 100-octane type. Many consumers who spent 10-15 euros every time they visited the station, are now filling their tanks.

Sources of gas station owners report that the problem will arise in petrol supplies, due to increased demand by consumers, if the strike continues for several days.

An employee even stated to protothema.gr that if this situation continues, then fuel in Athens will run out within two or three days.

Workers are striking because of the single payroll bill, whose provisions on the listed DEKOs are expected to be modified today, at least according to what became known in in yesterday’s meeting between GENOP and the Secretary of the Treasury.

There is a meeting about current market issues scheduled between the Gas Station Owners Federation and the General Secretary of the Ministry of Development S. Comnenos, while it is expected that the situation currently created is also going to be studied in detail.  On Saturday, the distribution of heating petrol will begin, the price of which is expected to remain at 0.95 to 1 euro per liter, as the Special Consumption Tax is expected to remain at 60 euros per ml, compared to 21 euros last year.
