Nightmare inside our own homes
Attica residents live with the everyday fear of burglars and criminals, as invasions in homes occur every day. The problem lies not only in the centre but in every corner of the basin...
This weekend was a nightmare for a lot of our fellow citizens. On Sunday morning, a 40yo woman in Ilioupoli fell victim to ruthless bandits, who after taking what they could from her home, raped and abused her while her underage child, whom the robbers had locked in its room, was in the house. There were two perpetrators, they entered by breaking down the front door and did their work undisturbed, while the husband of the victim was out of the house.
Two robbers also broke into a house at Zefiri, while two more raids occurred in houses at Penteli.
Early this morning, armed thieves snatched a safe with 40.000 euros from a gas station in Kipseli, while others craccked open an ATM in a supermarket in Keratea. The first robbery happened at 4am at 66 Ithakis Str. Two strangers entered the station and using physical violence, immobilized the employee and led him to the basement, where they stole the earnings and the vault of the station. Then they took a car from the parking area of the station and escaped. At 3.20 in the morning in Peta, Keratea, strangers broke into the vestibule of a supermarket and after entering, broke into the ATM from which they removed an unknown amount of money. During the night, there were also two armed robberies, one at a bakery in Haidari and one at a kiosk in Glyfada.
According to official police data, 2 raids by robbers-rapists occur every 24hrs in Attica.
