Playing it tough, Turkey decided to show Cyprus who is the one to decide what happens where in the Mediterranean region, and late last night Turkish vessels went on military exercises around the island.

Playing it tough, Turkey decided to show Cyprus who is the one to decide what happens where in the Mediterranean region, and late last night Turkish vessels went on military exercises around the island.
The same is going to happen today and tomorrow too, in the northern and southern waters off the island, according to two NOTAMs issued by Ankara.
Needless to say, the Turkish side never asked the Cypriot side’s permission to conduct the exercises.
The latter will take place very near the "Homer Ferrington" rig where Cyprus, with the help of the American company "Noble Energy", continues drilling in search of natural gas.
Apart from military vessels, the Turkish exercise will also include SAR (search and rescue)-type helicopters.
All eyes are on the Independence Day celebrations in Cyprus on October 1st, a day when it is believed the Turkish offensive will escalate.
