Turkish commandos penetrate Cyprus
Authorities in Cyprus are alarmed as it became known that late on Wednesday night, Turkish commandos had penetrated from the occupied side of the island into free territory.

Wednesday night, Turkish commandos had penetrated from the occupied side
of the island into free territory.
The rangers stole a Greek flag from an unguarded outpost, as well as a flag of the Cyprus National Guard. Moreover, they wrote on the outside of the outpost “Cyprus is Turkish” and “Long live the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.
Sources of the local Defence ministry said on local television channel ANT1 Cyprus that an investigation has already been ordered by the National Guard and the island’s police department.
As expected, the flags were replaced and the outpost thoroughly cleaned.
The area is under UN peacekeeping forces surveillance, who noticed nothing according to reports.
