Hail of bullets in front of Karatzaferis' eyes

An armed conflict between bank robbers and police took place in the presence of LAOS President George Karatzaferis shortly before 3pm on Tuesday in the region of Atalante! Police witnessed bank robbers exiting the local Eurobank branch and began their pursuit, while the perpetrators opened fire.

During the chase, the bandits managed to escape in a silver BMW and passed in front of a café in which the LAOS president had been sitting at. Mr. Karatzaferis owns a summer house in the area and was able to witness the armed conflict between police and the three armed suspects. Mr. Karatzaferis’ police escort did not take part in the chase.

According to preliminary reports, the car was trapped in a byroad of the national highway, close to Proskinas, and was stopped. The perpetrators managed to escape and a manhunt is under way in order to identify them, while one of two AK-47 Kalashnikovs which were used to open fire against police was also found on the scene, including one hood and other items.
