Taxi drivers, who announced an indefinitely prolonged strike through
their website earlier this afternoon, seem to be hardening their stance
towards the Infrastructure ministry, characterising the publications
which referred to an end of the strike this Friday as non-existent and non-representative of reality.
Their announcement reads: “The 48hr strike is prolonged indefinitely, since there is no development and no meeting with the relevant ministry. The strike will continue and for the time being, it does not have a specific end date”.
On Tuesday, taxi drivers reached the toll station of Afidnes and Elefsina. About 1.000 taxis are gathered at each station, and their drivers have lifted the bars so that vehicular traffic can pass freely.
According to information, however, they intend to block the Infrastructure ministry in Holargos on Wednesday and have a peaceful protest with their families, showing their objection to the bill put forward by the ministry.
Meanwhile, they plan to line up their cars along the Athens-Lamia and Athens-Corinth highways, at the height of the Afidnes and Elefsina toll respectively, lift the bars and let the cars pass freely.
