Processes in Europe, anxiety in Athens
The last dramatic Eurogroup session leaves a small expectation with a bitter taste, as the formulation of guidelines to address the debt crisis is not enough, since Greece is waiting for more drastic and definitive decisions.

Papandreou and Venizelos tried to press for quicker decision making, but it seems that the agony will be prolonged for a
few more days, while no positive messages seem to come from the internal front: the
budget is implemented with large disparities, while social reactions do not
subside despite the summer indolence.
Cabinet meeting
The PM called for a cabinet meeting today where,
in addition to the daily agenda, there will be information and discussion about
developments on the economy front. Either way, the government has little to do
while waiting on European decisions, perhaps only accelerate the work and
set priorities for the next two critical months. All this is taking place with the hope
that the efforts to meet mid-term commitments will be appreciated by
international factors.
Cabinet meeting subjects:
- Filling Judicial Officer vacancies: the Areios Pagos president and two vice presidents, one vice president for the CoS, two vice presidents for the Auditors Court and the State General Commissioner of Administrative Courts (as proposed by justice minister M. Papaioannou).
- Bill: Trial for acts of corruption by politicians and state officials (as proposed by justice minister M. Papaioannou).
- Bill: Organization of Higher Education, an Independent Authority to assure and certify quality in Higher Education (as proposed by education minister Anna Diamantopoulou).
