The powerful explosions that occurred early on Monday at a naval base in Limassol, Cyprus, not only have caused several human casualties, but also serious electrical circuit problems around the island, too.
The electric power unit which was affected by the fire is the biggest on the island; thus, there are power cuts all over Cyprus.
“Fileleftheros” newspaper reports there is one person missing.
An electric power
company spokesman reported that they are expecting power cuts and shortages, so people
should be prepared in case they occur.
Due to the power
complications and high
temperatures on the island, air conditioning users (both locals and tourists) might face difficulties. Authorities have asked all to reduce their use
of electric power (electric lighting, electric boilers, kettles, TVs, washing machines,
etc.) until the electrical supply goes back to normal.
