Pensions in installments due to lack of cash!

Many pensioners around the country who receive their pensions through state-related banks ηave been welcomed with an unpleasant surprise these past few days.

As beneficiaries from Laconia, Arta and Imathia state in protothema.gr, in regional banks the lack of cash is such that instead of the usual full pay yesterday, bank officials only gave them part of it and asked them to come back today for the rest.

And they cited their lack of liquidity due to the significant withdrawals that had characterized the previous days.

It should be noted that in the aftermath of the now-infamous statement about the return to the drachma by Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki last Wednesday, it is estimated that about 1,5 billion euro was withdrawn on Thursday and Friday.

A bank executive, whose branch protothema.gr has reports on, was reserved about answering, citing the fact that this incident might have been a circumstantial event, but admitted that a lot of smaller, regional branches might be plagued by a lack of liquidity…
