Early this morning, an unprecedented incident took place at the Araxos air base
when the front wheel of a 2-seater jet fighter was detached
for inexplicable reasons.
During takeoff on a training mission, the nose wheel was detached from its position! The two pilots continued the takeoff process and shortly after returned to the 116 Combat Wing and managed to land the F-16 with only the two rear wheels!
The Air Force General Staff officially referred to "a loss of the wheel from the plane’s nose", noting that "the aircraft did not encounter other problems and landed safely at 116CW/Aerodrome Araxos", while a relevant committee of the Air Force is conducting an investigation to identify the causes of this incredible incident.
