"Certain rumours and scenarios could be...criminal" warns the PM!
With the confidence he will be receiving a respectable sum to fortify the Greek economy - even in such difficult conditions - the PM George Papandreou attacked all those that circulate scenarios about Greece going back to the drachma and about him contacting the IMF as early as 2009.
With the confidence he will be receiving a respectable sum to fortify the Greek economy - even in such difficult conditions - the PM George Papandreou attacked all those that circulate scenarios about Greece going back to the drachma and about him contacting the IMF as early as 2009.
From Lefkada, where he is currently on a visit, Mr.Papandreou noted that all the scenarios of exiting the euro are almost criminal and there is, nor there ever was, no such discussion. "Some people spread fear because they want to profit from this" he said.
Mr.Papandreou also attacked "internal factors" saying that some people have a flair for
scenarios of destruction. He characteristically said "Leave
Greece alone to do its job, so that we can finally reach our own
Ithaca".
According to sources, Mr.Papandreou seems to
have had secret meetings for weeks, through which he managed to seal
a deal of a "total solution" for the country that will
include more loans, an extension for debt repayment and a short haircut of
specific bonds. In return, the country will be in a second Memorandum with
long and hard adjustments.
If all that really happens, then Mr.Papandreou is possibly going to go to a cabinet reshuffle, or even possibly elections.
