A Greek aided their flight
As a result of further police investigation, it was found taht these perpetrators were part of a criminal organization, whose purpose was robbery of any form. The criminal organization also included two foreigners, both aged 31, who were apprehended due to their part in the robbery as lookouts.
After the attack, one member picked up both perpetrators from a pre-agreed-upon spot and helped them flee.
Also part of the same organization were two Albanians, both aged 31, who provided the criminals with stolen cars.
During the inquiries into the murder of the two officers, 35 people were investigated. The police raids took place in the areas of Perama, Menidi, Paleo Faliro, Thiseio and Kallithea.
Teams belonging to the AntiTerrorism Unit, the Hellenic Intelligence Agency and Attiki Police took part in the information gathering and analysis stage, which began right after the murders. The role of the Crime Labs was also pivotal in the analysis and study of evidence and data pertaining to the case.
Those arrested will be led to the Athens public prosecutor on Friday.
