Over 100,000 Christians flocked to the Holy Land this year, despite the economic crisis and the outbreak of violence in the region of North Africa.

Carrying crosses and chanting, they climbed the path of martyrdom once more, following in the footsteps of the Lord, while several carried crosses as a representation of the Divine Drama.

Especially since this year the Catholic and Orthodox Easter coincide, the turnout in the Holy Land was significant.

At the same time, the messages given by religious leaders of Christianity contained references to both the timeless message of the Resurrection and the underlying economic crisis and the testing times that the planet has been, and is still going through.

The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew made mention of the connection between moral evil and natural disasters, while Archbishop Ieronimos referred to the economic crisis, concluding by saying "As many a time as our kind has reached the verge of destruction, the hope of the Resurrection brought it back robust and resurrected. With this hope, it remained alive during the Ottoman Empire, and because of it the 1821 Revolution succeeded. The same thing happened after the German occupation. We will overcome any kind of crisis and test, both in the present and in the future.
