The great Easter exit

Traffic Police are on red alert to ensure the safe travel of the Easter holiday makers. According to them, the big wave is expected between Holy Thursday and Good Friday, while the return will gradually start from Easter Monday.

Despite the crisis, traffic is expected to be high compared with last year’s figures, namely due to good weather during the days of Easter.

The Infrastructure ministry is warning drivers to expect increased vehicular traffic:

* during the exit mainly on Holy Thursday from 15.00 to 23.00 and Holy Friday from 05.00 to 17.00 
* during the return mainly on Easter Monday and Tuesday from 05.00 to 17.00.

 
According to the ministry, there will be no traffic regulations with the exclusion of lanes along the PATHE motorway network up to Lamia, and the Elefsina-Korinthos and Korinthos-Tripoli motorways up to Paradisia.

It is also noted that there will be traffic regulations and drivers should expect some delays on the new Korinthos-Patra motorway, where work is still in progress along the 17 sites of the project.

Regarding truck traffic on several sections of the national motorways, bans will be in place on:

* H. Thursday from 15.00 to 22.00 (exit lanes)
* G. Friday from 06.00 to 16.00 (exit lanes)
* Easter Monday from 15.00 to 22.00 (entrance lanes)
* Easter Friday from 16.00 to 22.00 (exit lanes)
* Easter Saturday from 08.00 to 13.00 (exit lanes)
* Thomas Sunday from 16.00 to 23.00 (entrance lanes)

 
Modifications to bus and train routes

KTEL buses will try to cover the increased traffic with extra routes, namely for Holy Thursday and Good Friday, since they are considered one of the cheapest means of transport.

Capacity in trains and planes will be significantly decreased as well, with reservations reaching almost.
