For the second day in a row, the Vice President Mr.Pangalos is insisting through a new statement that he never made any comment to the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet which referred to the Greeks' lack of productivity.
On the contrary, in an announcement from his office he is stating that he gave an interview to the Economic Observer newspaper on July 9th, 2010 which read: “Greeks work really hard. Our productivity is higher than the European average.” He also reminds us that on December 22nd, 2010 he declared in Parliament “Greece is fine. We possess revenue-making resources and businesses and a very hard-working force in the private sector”.
The Vice President is attacking the ND opposition party by saying “since Nea Dimokratia insists on talking about 'laziness' and 'lazy' people we wont deprive her of that talk” and in the same tone he mentioned a recent statement by former Finance Minister Mr.Alogoskoufis: “Karamanlis, having an acute sense of what exactly was happening with the economy, told me 'Leave it for later' ”.
”This unprecedent phrase is the definition of stalling and the refusal of a leader to actually fulfill his duties” Mr. Pangalos stated, adding that “history has proven that Greeks were never lazy or unwilling. However, their then Prime Minister was, and he led the country to disaster”
In his statement he also mentions that it is “interesting” that the leader of ND doesn't have a good opinion of his predecessor, since in parliament "he mentioned the former PM had 'lost touch with reality", although he tried to take back his words.
