Police are looking for three gangs of hardened foreign criminals

The police investigation into the cold-blooded murder of two young policemen from the DI.AS team is focusing on three gangs of hardened foreign criminals. "Everything suggests that behind the carnage in Renti, lurks one of the three tough gangs operating in the capital. They are teams of individuals from the former Soviet Union and Albanians whose activity has been centered mainly on the northern and western suburbs of Attica, but also in Viotia. Their field of action includes banks, luxurious residences and even simple kiosks. Their main characteristics are brutality and violence. They are capable of killing for nothing” stresses an officer on protothema.gr.

“Two of the five are thought to have been released recently, while the three others are wanted and it is considered certain that they have washed their hands in blood. One of their characteristics is that they use heavy weapons of the Kalashnikov type and large expensive SUVs, which have been supplied by other gangs specializing in thefts of luxurious cars”, says a policeman.

“We are trying to piece together this jigsaw puzzle. We estimate that there has been no fingerprint identification either because the four on the SUV wore gloves or because their fingerprints are not on record; this scenario, however, is not very likely” said an officer of the Police.

The Kalashnikov executioner’s profile

Police are paying special attention to the man who raised his Kalashnikov and shot at the officers with 23 bullets, killing two and wounding two others seriously. The profile which has been drawn up is as follows:
* He is burly, wearing black clothes, and was very calm in his movements.
* Probably comes from a part of the former Soviet Union, has been in Greece for several years and is reportedly wanted but has never been arrested before.
* Is an excellent shooter and this shows by the way he shot at their pursuers.

* Probably was the driver of the jeep and if this is eventually proven, they have to do with a "pilot" who knows well how to escape pursuits and roadblocks.
* Finally, he seems to be the leader of the group. He has the last word in all the actions and takes on the difficult and dirty tasks.
