The archibishop of Piraeus Serafim has an opinion or two about the Minister of Justice Haris Kastanides and his new legislation “that aims through the Law to suppress, and deal with some forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia”.
The archbishop has issued a statement saying that “there are many types of sexual orientation evident from birth that an organized state finds the need to protect by law. So according to the government there is a new sexual orientation that they want to sustain. And I am wondering who gives them this right?”
” I am ashamed as an orthodox bishop and as a Greek citizen that I am breathing the same air and step on the same soil as Mr.Kastanidis”.
The Minsiter of Justice replied to the archibishop by using a quote by Nikos Kazantzakis “Holy Fathers of the Church, I hope you believe in God as much as I do” and added “the Christ I know and I believe in is the one that was not ashamed to breathe the same air and step on the same soil as Mary Magdalene”.
