Samaras-Karamanlis

The absence of Mr. Karamanlis is a thorn in the side of ND. He wasn’t even there on Wednesday for the dedication of the new offices of the party on Leoforos Syggrou.

Through this move, the new logo of the party and the new political profile, Mr Samaras has shown he wants no ties with the past and it is obvious that he wants to break any that still exist.

Their relationship is characterized as “comfortably distant” and their discussions are very polite but without any political content. Mr. Samaras has covered for Mr.Karamanlis in relation to the Siemens Vatopaidi scandals, and that has made it easier for the former PM to lie in the shadows.

So what will Mr.Karamanlis do in the next elections? Information is ambiguous. Some say he wants to participate in the next elections, others that he would be interested in becoming the new President of the country. Other information states that Mr.Samaras would like Mr.Karamanlis to retire willingly from politics so that he won’t harm the party any more.
