The fines scared the deadheads
The fines scared the deadheads
The trucks continue to pass freely, while law firms are looking at legal action against the fine regulation
UPD:
The Traffic Code threat about the non-payment of toll fares seems to be working, decreasing the rate of unpaid passage by as much as 10%.
A week after the government announcement about strict measures, drivers seem to be much more careful. According to sources, in the «Aegean Motorway», which is building the Maliakos-Kleidi section, the deadhead movement reached 21% recently. The announcement of the regulation has restricted unpaid passage mainly for private vehicles because trucks still pass without paying, as the company’s PR director Eirini Zavridou reports.
«A decrease in the number of drivers that refuse to pay toll fares was expected, as the fines have scared people off» says a resident of NA Attica, another area with powerful protests and action against the tolls which have not stopped in the area, lifting the bars at Afidnes yesterday evening. They insist on the elimination of toll fares in NA Attica, an issue on which there is a municipal decision by the new Kallikratean municipality of Oropos, which is fortunate enough to have 8 stations in its region!
But the resistance is continuing and the residents are ready to bring on the first fine in order to challenge the law itself.
Large law firms that are advising the NA Attica residents are dusting off the amendment and according to sources, they are ready to challenge the law against deadheads. First they will appeal to the Administrative Court when a fine is imposed, and then to the COE for it to judge the constitutionality of the law.
The next step is to act against the regulation that contains the plan/ law for tudies and public projects, which relieves Nea Odos of the 22mil euro fines imposed by the urban planning of Kapandriti.

The Infrastructure ministry says that this action aims at legitimizing the non-authorised TEO buildings that have been passed over to the consortium. But this is only half the truth since the side stations and other buildings of the company that did not pre-exist, were characterized as non-authorised too.
