Τα στελέχη της Honda, της Sony και της Sony Honda Mobility (SHM), της κοινοπραξίας που είχαν ιδρύσει το 2022, τράβηξαν την πρίζα για την παραγωγή των καινούργιων αμιγώς ηλεκτροκίνητων μοντέλων τους. Η Honda είχε παρουσιάσει τα πρωτότυπα Σειρά 0, τόσο σε sedan όσο και σε SUV έκδοση, ενώ η Sony (μέσω της SHM) το πρωτότυπο Afeela 1.Μάλιστα, από την κοινοπραξία συστήθηκε η εταιρεία Afeela η οποία θα προχωρούσε στην εξέλιξη και παράγωγή του. Αν και τα δύο προγράμματα είχαν προχωρήσει σημαντικά και τα αμιγώς ηλεκτροκίνητα οχήματα είχαν φτάσει κοντά στη διαδικασία παραγωγής τους. Ωστόσο, υπήρξε ουσιαστική ανατροπή. Οι άνθρωποι της Honda αποφάσισαν να ακυρώσουν τη διαδικασία και να μην κατασκευάσουν τα δύο καινούργια μοντέλα της. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι το ίδιο θα συμβεί και σε αυτό της Sony Honda Mobility. Η εξέλιξη των δύο οχημάτων διακόπηκε αιφνιδίως καθώς τα δεδομένα από την αγορά των ηλεκτροκίνητων οχημάτων δεν είναι ενθαρρυντικά. Επιπλέον, από τη Honda ανακοινώθηκε ότι ακυρώθηκε και το πρόγραμμα δημιουργίας τού αμιγώς ηλεκτρικού RSX. Σε κοινή δήλωσή τους, οι δύο εταιρείες επισημαίνουν ότι η συνολική επαναξιολόγηση στρατηγικής τής Honda υπήρξε καθοριστική για την ακύρωση των καινούργιων μοντέλων τους. Από τη Sony Honda Mobility αναφέρεται χαρακτηριστικά: «Ως αποτέλεσμα της επαναξιολόγησης της στρατηγικής εξηλεκτρισμού της Honda -και λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τις αλλαγές στην αγορά των ηλεκτρικών-, οι βασικές παράμετροι της επιχειρηματικής λειτουργίας της SHM, όπως η αξιοποίηση συγκεκριμένων τεχνολογιών και πόρων που επρόκειτο να παρασχεθούν από τη Honda, μεταβλήθηκαν θεμελιωδώς, οδηγώντας στην απόφαση για διακοπή της εξέλιξης και της εμπορικής διάθεσης του πρώτου μοντέλου Afeela1, καθώς και του δεύτερου μοντέλου». Επιπλέον, οι δύο εταιρείες γνωστοποίησαν ότι θα επανεξετάσουν συνολικά την ύπαρξη της Sony Honda Mobility, χωρίς ωστόσο να τίθεται θέμα διάλυσης της συνεργασίας τους.  Επισημαίνεται ότι θα ανακοινωθεί το συντομότερο δυνατόν η μεσοπρόθεσμη και μακροπρόθεσμη επιχειρηματική στρατηγική τους, καθώς και ο ρόλος που φιλοδοξούν να διαδραματίσουν στο μέλλον της κινητικότητας. Η απόφαση για την ακύρωση κατασκευής των νέων ηλεκτροκίνητων μοντέλων τόσο της Honda όσο και της Afeela ελήφθη ενώ είχε αρχίσει ήδη η προετοιμασία των γραμμών παραγωγής τους στο εργοστάσιο της
