Φυσικά και δεν συμφωνεί με τα Γκουλάγκ η "ανανεωτική αριστερά". Το έχει δηλώσει, αποστασιοποιήθηκε από τον Σταλινισμό κλπ... Επειδή όμως η μήτρα όλων των αριστερών κομμάτων, οργανώσεων, κλάδων, παρακλάδων κ.ο.κ. είναι το ΚΚΕ και κατά βάθος τρέφουν μεγάλη εκτίμηση και νοσταλγία για την ιδεολογική "μάνα" τους, δεν τα θεωρούν και τόσο κακά όσο τα στρατόπεδα συγκέντρωσης των Ναζί. Αυτή είναι η θεωρία των 2 άκρων που την απορρίπτουν. Αν μιλήσεις σε κομμουνιστή Συριζαίο για για τα Γκουλάγκ, θα σου πει: "ναι, εντάξει ήταν λάθος αλλά όχι και να τα εξομοιώνουμε με τον Χίτλερ!". Ας είχαν περισσότερα θύματα. Γιατί υπάρχουν τα κακά στρατόπεδα που έφτιαξαν οι κακοί, και τα καλά που έφτιαξαν οι καλοί. Εντάξει, αποδείχθηκαν λανθασμένη επιλογή, αλλά ήταν μια προσπάθεια για τον σοσιαλισμό βρε αδερφέ, οι προθέσεις ήταν καλές... Σ' αυτό κανείς μπορεί να αντιτείνει πως και το κόμμα του Χίτλερ "ΕΘΝΙΚΟ ΣΟΣΙΑΛΙΣΤΙΚΟ" το έλεγαν... Α, και κάτι άλλο. το "ανανεωτικό" ΚΚΕ εσωτερικού, πρόγονος του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ, από τον χασάπη Τσαουσέσκου έπαιρνε χρηματοδότηση...
